Living in Emsbüren

Emsbüren is a very attractive place to live in! About 7.000 people of the total population of approx. 10.000 are living in the compact central residential area. It is mainly here that house construction evolves. In the central area, with its renewed streets and squares (from which vehicles have been banned, so that shopping is a real pleasure), citizens can find not only well equipped retail shops but also a sub post office, banks, pharmacies, medical practices and supermarkets, in one word: all facilities for daily comfort. There are also plenty of schools. The very good infrastruc-ture tempts one to practice sport in periods of leisure. A flourishing social life facilitates the integration of new fellow citizens and makes sure that they quickly feel at home. The rich gastronomical choice (e.g. farm cafés) makes that one just wants to enter and enjoy.

All residential areas are close to the centre and planned „in one piece“. Global urban development planning makes sure that building land is used in an optimum way and that all areas are disclosed by a network of cycle tracks and footways leading to the centre. The municipality is very receptive to new challenges such as energy saving construction and installing regenerative energy supplies.
Here you can build a classical single-family house with one floor (detached or semi-detached), as well as a house in a row or in a garden neighbourhood. Well studied models facilitate building. On the basis of a model from the development area for house building Pahlhügel, you can already now build a house in this residential landscape. This slightly sloping area with hedges and a wooded hill is particularly attractive.

Contrary to the already suburban structure of the central area, the wide environment of the municipal territory of approx. 140 km² has a rural structure. We hear time and time again that it is characterized by a beautiful and multifaceted landscape. Plenty of water (the rivers Ems and Aa, the channels Dortmund-Ems and Ems-Vechte, artificial lakes, natural ponds  and biotopes, etc. ), forests, lovely country settlements and villages (among which Elbergen and Listrup catch the eye), characterize all municipalities of the conglomerate of Emsbüren. One can explore the surroundings by bike along the extensive net of cycle tracks. In Elbergen there are very attractive building lands for those who want to „live in a village“.
